TCNK
TCNK is a car showroom and garage located in Niigata prefecture, Japan. The building stands at the entrance of a new development area and is intended as a landmark. TCNK combines a glass showroom with two upper volumes that appear to float above the ground. A five meter cantilever and a suspension structure make the volumes seem to rest on a single line of columns. The final design was selected from more than ten proposals prepared after a study of the site. Construction started in November 2006 and was completed in October 2009.
TCNK Car Showroom and Garage by Tetsuo Kawabe has been highlighted as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. TCNK Car Showroom and Garage earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2021. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design accolade which celebrates outstanding design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
