Al Azra Home
Al Azra Home is a single storey residential building in the Emirate of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The house was designed as a quiet retreat for a retired lady, on the plot where her family home once stood. Two bedrooms, an office, an open plan living and dining area, a semi open kitchen with a breakfast island and a maid's room are arranged around an inner courtyard. Stone cladding with a ventilation gap and triple glazing reduce heat, dust and noise. Porcelain floors are set on one level for easy movement. Native trees and plants provide privacy and a sense of calm.
Al Azra Home Residential by Ardh Architects has been featured as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Al Azra Home Residential was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2020. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design prize that celebrates superior design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
