MGY Base
MGY Base is an office building for an apparel brand in Tokyo, Japan. The design follows the idea of a secret base where people want to gather. The main floor is 6 metres high, and a large glass facade gives the impression of a semi-outdoor space. Wire mesh in the loft, industrial style lighting, and fixtures made of iron and scaffolding support the same theme. The building has a reinforced concrete structure and a total floor area of 124 square metres. The open interior is intended to encourage communication and comfortable work.
MGY Base Office by Eitaro Satake has been recognized as a creative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. MGY Base Office earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2021. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design competition which recognizes excellent design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
