Nestled in the Green House

Nestled in the Green

Nestled in the Green is a house located in Tajiri, Hiroshima, Japan. The site stands in a typical Japanese residential area, with small mountains to the north and the Seto Inland Sea to the south. The house was built on the plot of a former European-style vacation home, which was demolished while the garden was kept and tended. The position of the house and the size of the windows were studied so that the garden and the mountains can be seen from many directions. Open windows bring in the sound of leaves and birds. The site area is 713.24 square meters.

Nestled in the Green House by Tomomi Omachi has been selected as a grand representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Nestled in the Green House was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2021. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program which celebrates outstanding design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
