Jiyang Binhe Experimental School

Jiyang Binhe

Jiyang Binhe is a school building designed for nine years of compulsory education in Jiyang District, Jinan, China. The campus has a gross floor area of 24,462 square meters and adjoins a landscape park overlooking the Yellow River. The plan follows one main axis with two courtyards and two auxiliary axes that hold functional zones. Ordinary classrooms are placed on a south to north orientation for daylight, and the library and functional classrooms stand at the ends of the auxiliary axes. External walls use thermal insulation mortar, and double glazing reduces outside noise.

Jiyang Binhe Experimental School by Hangzhou Green Development Design was featured as a grand representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Jiyang Binhe Experimental School received the Iron A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2022. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design prize that rewards outstanding design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
