Kylie
Kylie is a residential house located on the outskirts of a city near the countryside. Like a sunflower, the building rotates with the course of the sun. In winter, solar gains reduce the heating demand, while in summer turning into the shade prevents overheating. Kylie was built as a prefabricated timber frame structure, with oak used for the terrace decking, furniture, wall cladding and parquet flooring. Heating is provided by a groundwater heat pump, and a photovoltaic system on the roof generates electricity. Overall, the house produces more energy than it consumes.
Kylie Residential House by Gronych + Dollega Architekten was highlighted as an exceptional representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Kylie Residential House received the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2022. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design competition that honors exceptional design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
