272 Gallery
272 Gallery is a multifunctional space created by renovating an existing residence in Foshan, China. The building holds three functions: a display of medieval furniture, an art gallery and a private gathering area. Minimum intervention guided the work, so the original cast-in-place terrazzo floors and wooden stair handrails were retained. Iron guardrails, unpainted pine and glass brick walls were added. All interior doors were removed to connect the rooms and allow flexible exhibitions. Windows were carefully placed to frame the tall trees of the community.
272 Gallery Multifunctional Space by Qiuwen Luo has been identified as an exceptional example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. 272 Gallery Multifunctional Space received the Iron A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2022. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design competition that rewards outstanding design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
