Liru and Guo Dali
Liru and Guo Dali is a rural library complex located in Xitang Village, Guangdong Province, China. The complex is composed of two book houses and landscape structures that enclose them. Overlapped double-layer enclosure structures shade the interiors from sun and rain and reduce energy use in a hot and rainy region. The outer facade is made of traditional pottery tiles and Chinese fir strips, while fair-faced concrete and glass are used within. Almost all materials come from the local area. The buildings offer space for exhibitions, reading and rest.
Liru and Guo Dali Rural Library by Guangdong Urban Rural Planning And Design Institute CO,.LTD. has been identified as a grand illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Liru and Guo Dali Rural Library was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2023. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design accolade which celebrates superior design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
