Miscellaneous Woods Reception Center

Miscellaneous Woods

Miscellaneous Woods is a reception center completed in Taiwan. The one-story building covers 1,342.1 square meters on a base of 4,175.2 square meters. The exterior is made of natural materials, including cypress, paint and architectural concrete. Slender wooden elements form a large digital grille that recalls tree branches and a forest path. The long rectangular volume is visually dismantled, and the roof is opened to create layered transitions. Natural light enters the interior, which is kept simple with little decoration.

Miscellaneous Woods Reception Center by Ya-Yuan Design, Shanghefa Development has been highlighted as an innovative example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Miscellaneous Woods Reception Center won the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2024. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design competition that honors superior design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
