Wenzhou Christine
Wenzhou Christine is a wedding art center located in Wenzhou, China. The project renovates a half-circular hotel building from the 1990s. The existing facade is clad with perforated laser-cut aluminum panels that form patterns inspired by the lace and embroidery of wedding dresses. The 9.7 meter tall facade resembles a wedding dress moved by wind, and lighting reveals the patterns at night. The 700 square meter interior contains a display lounge and a wedding ceremony hall. The design also aims to renew an older city center neighborhood.
Wenzhou Christine Wedding Art Center by Mo Zheng has been identified as a grand example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Wenzhou Christine Wedding Art Center won the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2024. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design recognition program which rewards superior design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
