North Light
The Light of the North is a musical art center in Saynatsalo, Finland. The building has a gross floor area of 2000 square meters and includes a concert hall. The design follows the language of the nearby town hall and adds modern functions for the local community. The entrance facade combines perforated brick walls with a glass curtain wall, and the bricks are set in varied patterns. Curved wooden panels join walls and ceilings, spread natural light softly and improve the acoustics of the concert hall. The center serves children, elderly people and young residents.
North Light Musical Art Center by Meng Zhao has been highlighted as an outstanding illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. North Light Musical Art Center received the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2026. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design competition which rewards outstanding design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
