U Cube
U Cube is a landscape renovation of a small scale street in Shanghai, China, completed in 2018. The design follows a philosophy of removing complexity and keeping simplicity. Minimal elements, futuristic materials and refined details turn the street into a practical office landscape. The original lane was narrow and dark, so the layout was based on the principle of stretching space. A fine doorplate and an iconic entrance divide the office area from the residential area. Vehicle access is controlled to provide a quiet and independent working environment.
U Cube Landscape Renovation by Shanghai Lacime Design Co. Ltd. has been selected as an outstanding example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. U Cube Landscape Renovation earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Landscape Planning and Garden Design in 2020. The A' Landscape Planning and Garden Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design recognition program which honors outstanding design of landscape designs, public parks, residential gardens, urban plazas, campus designs, green roofs, waterfront developments, Eco-Parks, botanical gardens and more.
